art-making

I experiment in traditional, non-traditional and digital media, including watercolor, acrylic, clay, paper, collage, fabric and even recycled trash. I love letter forms and have an active calligraphy practice.

Unfortunately, my creative interests don’t include building websites or online image galleries, so my website presentation skills are somewhat limited. Sorry ’bout that!

Here are a few experiments from 2019-present:

MAKE BELIEVE BOOK COVERS

I harbor a secret fantasy to design book covers, so in the absence of time to fully develop those skills, I made up a few covers. Maybe one day I’ll write the books that go inside.

ADVENTURES IN BOOKBINDING

I’ve always been an insatiable reader and I didn’t think it was possible for me to love books more than I already did.. However, after stitching and binding books by hand, my passion for this creation we call “book” … as a body of knowledge, as an emotional experience and as a physical object of art & craft…grew exponentially.

It’s a bit like parenting. Each day, I look at my much adored child and think, “I could not possibly love you more.”

But sure enough, the next day comes, and I do.

Maybe when we find what we truly love, our hearts grow in response to it.
